OK, today's story is about seafood. My husband went to the seafood market today and brought back a package. I thought it was fish, he tells me it's sort of like. What??? What is sort of like fish?? He wouldn't tell me i had to look. At first i only seen this hard shell like of course I'm like "what the hell is that" I'm thinking its something weird. It was a crab, big deal what was i scared of eating. But, u can never tell what he brings home will be. I've never had crab but for cold salad, at first that was what he was going to make. But instead he boiled it and made shrimp salad...which will be better tomorrow cause warm shrimp salad is not very tasty. But, anyways today we had crab.
I never really thought it was worth all the trouble just to get out a few pieces of meat. When he starts to eat the crab body and I'm like are u suppose to eat that?? He's like ohhh yeah it good he cracks it open and starts scooping it out and eating it. I'm about ready to throw up looking at what he's eating. He's enjoying himself. I just kept the legs and gave him the body part of my crab. I crack mine open and start to eat it. I get this awful taste of ammonia, this isn't right. So i tell him it tastes weird like ammonia, he just makes faces at me and tries to convince me that's what FRESH seafood tastes like...excuse me???? You know, I'm that dumb Midwestern American who has no idea what FRESH seafood is suppose to taste like. Like right...i sure the hell know when something tastes strange. He couldn't taste it or smell it. He just keeps eating it. I'm like am i going to have to call an ambulance for u later on??? He just smiled and kept on eating. Well i don't believe this is what it's suppose to taste like, cause why the hell would anybody eat that...ah no, there's somethings wrong here. So i go to the Internet and read about what it's to taste like. It's suppose to be sweet tasting, if it tastes like ammonia it's gone bad, it's old," NOT FRESH" and should be thrown away. (I LOVVVVE BEING RIGHT) he still kept eating it even after i told him this. But he did tell me to throw the other two away. He won't admit that it wasn't fresh, i told him if it's been out of the water for 24 hrs it usually goes bad and that boiling will bring out the ammonia taste, it's actually all there pee and poop is the cause of the ammonia and it comes out more during boiling...and I'm thinking he ate the whole shell. So as i have learned that not everything he buys at the fish market is fresh like he tells me...i have this feeling next time he goes down there he's ask about it.
So i just smile and ask him what he thinks of this Midwestern American girl now???? He just rolled his eyes and went to take a nap. I keep checking just to make sure i won't have to call a ambulance to take him to get his stomach pumped. Men, how they hate being wrong.
